When the CGTG receives your personal information through a secured environment, the CGTG will only ask you for the personal information that it needs to provide you with the service you request. The CGTG will use all reasonable steps to ensure the security of that information once received and will not distribute it to any third party unless required by law to do so.

Privacy Statement – General

CGTG is committed to protecting your personal privacy in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 165, as amended (the “Act”). When you visit the CGTG’s website, you are anonymous until you decide to identify yourself.

The CGTG’s website does not automatically collect or retain your email address in a database. The CGTG’s website does log your IP address and may use “cookies” for the purposes of analyzing trends, administering the website, tracking website visitors’ preferences and for gathering general demographic information. The logged IP address and/or “cookies” are not linked to any personally identifiable information.

Orders

We request information from you on our order form. To buy from us, you must provide contact information (like name and shipping address) and financial information (like credit card number, and expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to fill your orders. If we have trouble processing an order, we will use this information to contact you.

We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
